Dear reader,
In that day and age, productivity is, in my opinion, over-glorified and I do not want to be one of those persons that make you feel bad by showing you an over-glorified version of their lives. Maybe some of them really do wake-up at 5 A.M every single day and feel great doing so, but the vast majority of these people actually do not: do not believe everything you see on the Internet, really.
You do not have to be “perfect”, none of us are (I am not)
I do wake up at 5 A.M, even though not every single. I do believe that sticking to a rather strict routine is healthy, but I personally can’t wake up at the very same time every day due to my rather crazy schedule as well as my partner’s even crazier one (night shift life). For that reason, I am not your “perfect” blogger, but I do want to show you that you can wake up at 5 A.M for real (if you want) and that it can also be very profitable to your life (and not only look good but feel awful).
The secret to waking up early: have a GOOD reason to
(Not only a “I would like to meditate to look good on YouTube” kind of reason)
The number one reason to wake up at 5 A.M and stick to it is, in my eyes, to have a real reason to do it. Sincerely guys, you can’t really imagine that you will wake up at 5 A.M every day for the sole purpose of saying you did; it just won’t work. You may obviously deeply want time to meditate before your children wake up or want to create extra time for a morning reading-session, but that is personally not my case.
Contrary to most people from the “5 A.M club”, I do not wake up that early in order either to say I did it or to create “me-time”. I do in order to work. That is precisely the reason why you may not be the kind of person that needs to wake up at 5 A.M, but I am. I can obviously work on a “regular” schedule but I am just five times less efficient, let’s be honest. When I need to get things done, and extremely well-done, I know I need to wake up at 5, brew some coffee, tie my hair and open my laptop. There is just no other way I could do it.
Do not feel like you “have to” wake up early and discover your OWN “productive-hours”
For that reason, you need to try several routines. If you feel like you can never manage to be efficient, there are two options: maybe your work does not fulfill you, or maybe it is not the right time for you to work. You need to try different routines, especially if you are doing a job that allows for a self-scheduled day. Maybe you are meant to be efficient between 9 A.M and 5 P.M, but maybe your thing is to work between 2 A.M and 6 A.M. I do not think there is a “better option” contrary to what society is trying to say, and I do not think you should force society’s schedule onto your life as you are the only one living with your life. If you can do in three hours between 3 A.M and 6 A.M what most people do between 9 A.M and 5 P.M, I do not see what is wrong with that.
Hoping that post helped you understand that what is “trendy” is not necessarily as “healthy” at it seems,
Lots of love,
TABOULOT Camille
